Participation in the UN Global Compact

First specialist renewable energy operator in Japan to participate in the UN Global Compact (April, 2016)

Initiative launched in 2000 under the leadership of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. By demonstrating responsible and innovative leadership, signatory enterprises and organizations function as upstanding members of society as they work towards achieving sustainable growth.

Guided by our management philosophy of taking leadership in creating a prosperous and sustainable society through the development of renewable energy, JRE pursues to solve the challenges society faces through our business activities. Based on this philosophy, in April 2016 we announced our support for the UN Global Compact's Ten Principles, which are international initiatives aimed at achieving a more sustainable society, and became a member of the Global Compact Network Japan.

The UN Global Compact is an initiative that encourages businesses to conduct themselves in accordance with the 10 Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. By participating as a member of the local network in Japan, JRE will make an even greater contribution to achieving a more sustainable society.

Over 12,000 enterprises and organizations across some 170 countries around the world participate in the UN Global Compact. Of the 253 signatory enterprises and organizations (as of August 31, 2017) hailing from Japan, JRE was the first to participate as a company solely dedicated to renewable energy. Leveraging the distinctive features of our business, we will continue working with other participating enterprises and organizations in order to lead the way in creating happy and sustainable communities in Japan and around the world.
